A Short List of Fantastic Women Bloggers

Normally, I don’t categorize myself as a “female blogger”; I’m just a “blogger”. And when I read a blog, I don’t really care about the sex of the author.

But yesterday I got a comment from The Document Diva, saying:

Thanks for the input from a woman’s point of view. It seems most of the popular bloggers are men but women are a force to watch out for.

Hmmm…. I don’t think that “most of the popular bloggers are men”. I can think of a lot of female bloggers that I love to read.

I thought I’d put together a quick list (in no particular order):

Nathania JohnsonNathania Johnson of Bold Interactive and Nathania Johnson
Christine OKellyChristine OKelly of Self Made Chick and Create Business Growth
SkellieSkellie of Skelliewag - also a prolific guest blogger and a regular writer at ProBlogger
Jennifer LaycockJennifer Laycock of Search Engine Guide
Laura BergellsLaura Bergells of Internet Marketing in the Midwest, Free Internet Marketing, and Maniactive
Donna FontenotDonna Fontenot of DazzlinDonna and Seo Scoop
Lorelle VanFossenLorelle VanFossen of Lorelle on WordPress
Jennifer SleggJennifer Slegg of JenSense
Wendy PiersallWendy Piersall of eMoms at Home
Caroline MiddlebrookCaroline Middlebrook

And these are just the female bloggers I read in the Internet Marketing and related niches.

I don’t even have time to read all the blogs in this niche, so I am sure I have left out a lot of excellent bloggers - my apologies if you are not listed!

Anyway, if you are looking for good women bloggers to read, you have a lot of fantastic bloggers to choose from. :)

P.S. Thanks to The Document Diva for the idea for this post!

- Pat Doyle

Thanks so much for putting me on your “short” list! I’m among such wonderful company.

There’s one person I would add to this list - YOU!

    Thanks, Nathania! :)

Great list. I am aware of most of these blogs, but never investigated enough to see the real people (photos) behind them.

    Hi Pat:

Thanks for the mention! I appreciate it…

…and you are right! There don’t seem to be many women bloggers. Or women in social media.

But you gave me an idea for a new “tag” idea to raise awareness of women in social media! (”Name three women bloggers you read” - what do you think?)

    :)

    Thanks again,

    Laura

    Hi Laura,

Actually, I meant to say that there *are* a lot of women bloggers. :) Sorry if I was not clear about that. These are just the few that I read regularly.

Thanks for the mention Pat! That really is a great list, and wonderful to be included! :)

Pat, I’m thrilled I inspired this post. Thanks for taking the time to put the list together.

    Women bloggers rock!

You certainly belong on the list Pat, but I always wonder if such lists aren’t a subtle form of discrimination.

I regularly read several of the bloggers you mentioned, as well as your blog, becuase the bloggers have something to say that is of interest. I never read any blog for a woman’s point of view or a man’s, for that matter.

My view is, unless they feel the call for a blog specific to gender issues, bloggers should write, and read “generderless”. One of the great things about the ‘Net is its leveling abilities … it frees us from getting hung up about age, gender, race or “class” issues which always interfere with face-to-face and other more traditional means of interaction. My personal vote is, keep it that way.

Dave, I agree with you completely! That’s why I usually don’t pay attention to the gender of a blogger. I only put this list together to show that there are a lot of women bloggers. Some women may not realize this and be too intimidated to start a blog.

This is what I love about the internet - everyone is respected for who they are - no matter the gender, country, or age of the blogger.

Dave, I don’t believe a list like this is discrimination. It’s a way to reach out and bond with a community you feel comfortable with. That’s why there are such organizations as the National Association of Women Business Owners, so that you can support each other.

The facts are the facts, if you look at the Top 100 list the majority of them are men (http://www.45n5.com/top100/). Now there’s nothing wrong with this fact but it’s nice to know there a few women out there expressing themselves.

Diva, I understand what you are saying. And I believe everyone should do what they are personally comfortable with. But personally, I usually don’t consider gender in a situation like this (blogging and internet marketing). I guess this post was unusual for me. :)

Pat - you certainly belong on this list! I think it is very courageous of you to leave your comfortable job and set out on your own path.

Thank you for including me on a list with so many other wonderful and inspirational bloggers! :)
